Hung Kuen

Hung Kuen

Similar to Dragon Tiger Style, Hung Kuen focuses on solid stances, measured breathing and power strikes. Hung Kuen uses circular movements as part of the foundation of developing powerful solid strikes in their movements along with side stepping for close-quarter combat. These exercises set the basis for empty hand strikes, blocks, kicks and various weapons like the: staff, sword, butterfly knives, spear, shield, bench, Tiger Fork, and Kwan Dao.

Extracted from the teachings of late Grandmaster Lore King Hong (James Lore) (1915-2008), who also taught So Chek Bat (Dr. Jopet Laraya) and Sifu David Ellsmere, Hung Kuen movements influenced by Lore’s Jing Mo Kung Fu have been integrated into the current lessons in Hong Cha.
